Nancy Pierce, photographer

My Journey

I'm the type of photographer who walks with my head tilted back scanning the sky or staring down at the trail ahead observing little details. Patterns excite me--the way a fire escape zigzags against a wall, or how sunbeams slice through the trees and fog in early mornings. There is geometry everywhere: sharp triangles formed by bridges, perfect grids in building windows, spirals in the petals of a perfect flower.

Patterns and light are my language. The world is a wonderful playground. I like to explore the cities and famous landmarks but also the overlooked corners and pathways in everyday places. It isn't just about the building, landscapes or woods; it's about rhythm, balance and the unexpected harmony of shapes and light.

Photography became my way of sharing these discoveries with others. Each image is an invitation to pause and see the world differently—to notice the extraordinary beauty hidden in ordinary moments. Whether I'm capturing the architectural lines of an urban landscape or the organic patterns found in nature, I'm always seeking that perfect interplay between structure and spontaneity, between what's planned and what's revealed.

My work has been featured in galleries throughout Wisconsin and Michigan, and I'm honored to have permanent displays at First Street Art Gallery in Menominee and Artistree Gallery in Land O' Lakes. Through my prints, I hope to inspire others to look more closely at the world around them and find the quiet poetry in patterns, light, and geometry.

Artistic Philosophy

“Every scene holds a story told through shapes and shadows. My camera doesn't just capture what's there—it reveals the unseen relationships between light, form, and space that make the everyday extraordinary.”
